Art Show & Competition 2008

That's it! If we only get one entry, then they are the winner and we will
put their art on display as the best artist in Tacoma!
And they get the first Prize just for entering! July 3-7, 2008
Tacoma Art Supply will have its first ever art show & competition in a
tent on the grass area in front of the Carlton Building at 1552 Jefferson,
Tacoma, WA 98402, nearby Tollefson Plaza during the week of Tall Ships
Tacoma, July 3-7, 2008.
Type of Art: Any two dimensional, paintings, drawing, collage or
mixed media. The largest size that will be accepted is 24"x36". Sorry, no
photography for this show, but we will consider having a photo show and/or
competition in the future.
Subjects or Theme: "Tacoma, Summer and/or Maritime, or…"
Suggestions: Pick two of the themes, or something related, or what ever
you have that you think would be appropriate. Hopefully artists will
submit recent work created in the last few years. Art that has been seen
at other shows may possibly not be chosen for show or for prizes, but that
doesn't mean you can't try. Art that does not fit our theme also might not
be chosen, unless it's really good and we just know we have to have it in
our show.
Art submissions can sold, or not, by the artist. Not for sale submissions
are allowed. Tacoma Art Supply will take a small commission for art sold
at the Tacoma Summer & Maritime Art Show and Competition. To be announced.
Entry Fee: $20.00 per person for two pieces. Our intention is to
have at least one piece from each artist for the show and competition.
If you are not chosen for the show we will refund
your entry fee. (this show only)
Submission Deadline: Extended to June 21st, 2008
Prizes:
1st Prize Best of Show $300.00
2nd Prize $200.00
3rd Prize $100.00
4 Honorable Mentions - $50.00 gift certificate from/for Tacoma Art Supply.
Announcement of winners will be on July 3rd at 3:00PM in front of
the Tacoma Summer & Maritime Art Show tent.
Entry Submission: To enter the show & competition you must mail or
drop off the entry form below one for each entry, a $20.00 entry fee for
two pieces (limit 2 pieces), and a photo, digital or printed copy of each
submitted art to "Tacoma Art Supply" by June 15th, 2008.
DO NOT SUBMIT ORIGINALS WITH ENTRY FORM.
Digital submission of work can also be sent to

instead of mail or dropping off with forms and entry fees. Printed 8
½"x11" (or A4) copies of each art submitted can be submitted with entry
form.

Delivery: Those chosen for the show and competition will be
contacted to deliver their original art by July 1st, 2008. Art does not
have to be framed but must be hangable.
Guarantee: All art work will insured by Tacoma Art Supply and
returned in the same condition it was received any damaged pieces will be
noted at delivery and pick up. All prizes will be granted as mentioned
above.
Disclaimers: Decisions of the jurors are final and indisputable;
since this is a subjective endeavor, disputes will be considered frivolous
and petty. By entering the Tacoma Art Supply First Tacoma Summer &
Maritime Art Show 2008 you, the artist, agrees not to pursue any legal
prosecution and to settle any disputes though mediation of the jurors. Any
errors in organizing this show and competition will be corrected as soon
as possible and noted on our website and apologies made. Please be patient
as we learn from our first show. Entry fee money will be used to pay for
prizes, tent, and gratuities; any remaining money will go to a fund to
"up-the-ante" for the next year's competition, start a non-profit art show
organization, and hopefully to expand into the new Tollefson Plaza and
make Tacoma the center of the art universe. Any money not used for next
year's competition will go to a local worthy art related non-profit
